Yesterday the sun put in an appearance, and it almost felt - dare I say it - warm. After bundling up in our layers this weekend, watching ice cracking on the lake at Longleat, it was very surreal to find myself taking photos without a jumper, and feeling perfectly comfortable doing so. Naturally I celebrated the promise of milder climes by digging out some of my old summer favourites, including my trusty boater hat! This will be it's third year in action, and it's showing no signs of defeat.

This dress from Lovestruck is so sweetly retro. Unfortunately, the generous waist and pencil skirt were doing nothing for my figure, so I mixed things up a bit with my favourite petticoat. I love the shape of the top, with it's adorable buttons and sleeves, so I simply hid away away the fitted skirt and added the more frivolous American Apparel number.

I kept accessories simple; heart sunglasses, black heels, boater hat and a slick of sheer red lipstick (Revlon Lip Butter in 'Candy Apple', my favourite summer shade of 2012). It's a very lighthearted outfit, so I just had fun with the photos. Sometimes I look at other bloggers and wonder if I need to stop flashing my toothy grin in every shot, but then I realise I'm being silly. There's absolutely nothing wrong with smiling, in fact the world needs more smiles! This Cheshire Cat is going nowhere.
