Once upon a tea break.

I've always been a fan of the humble tea break. It's what keeps me going through university assignments and afternoons spent replying to emails, however with the weather over the past week they've become even more essential. Whether it's to warm us up after a session taking photos in the garden, or simply a cosy ten minutes with a hot brew to make being house-bound a little less tedious, we've been slowly working our way through our vast stash of tea (my personal favourite is strawberries and cream loose leaf from The Tea House Emporium - it's amazing with milk and sugar).

Of course there's more to the tea break than simply a good cuppa. It's a guilt free ten minutes away from responsibility spent doing whatever it is you fancy. I'm usually joined by the most recent issue of my favourite magazine - Company - and a mini scrapbook to stash away anything that inspires me.  And custard creams, plenty of custard creams.

However, my most prominent tea break companion nowadays is probably my iPad. It's made blogging far more laid back and enjoyable, now that I needn't rely on my clunky, aging laptop for everything. If you're considering investing in an iPad, take a look at Carphone Warehouse - now that I've got one I doubt I could ever go back! My iPad usage is primarily split between my three favourite apps - Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. I find some apps feel like a low-rate version of the real thing, but with these apps I actually prefer to use them on my iPad than in a browser. I've been pinning like a mad woman recently, everything from wedding ideas to blog post inspiration. I also rely on the Facebook Pages app to run the Briar Rose page, and I've killed a fair bit of time toying around with the Tumblr and 8mm (a quirky vintage camera that lets you make little videos) apps.

How would you spend your ideal tea break?

  2. My ideal tea break is spent literally doing nothing. Feet up, on the sofa with a cup in hand. My weeks seem to be so busy with work then getting home to housework, wanting to read and blog then having to start dinner - and that is all on an evening when I am not going out. I like being busy and having a chaotic life but those ten minutes of nothing with a lovely cuppa in my hand are nothing short of bliss.

P.s. I too love Company magazine!!

  12. That 10 minutes Tea Break are what keep me going through a hard day.
I thought the same, that's worth investing into an iPad. Finally I found someone who confirmed that for me ;)

  20. Well, after this post I want to start spending more of my breaks with a cup of tea. Normally I steer towards coffee, but Strawberries and Cream tea? Ooh la la. That might be hard to pass up.

Beautiful photos, as always. They belong in a magazine! x

I find I tend to get distracted by tea breaks, thinking I'll just have a quick peek at Twitter and realising twenty minutes later that my tea is now cold..
