DRESS FROM YUMI | STUDDED JUMPER FROM MARY JANE FASHION* | HEELS FROM H&M
I know, I know. Owls have been done to death. It began with those articulated necklaces, and before we knew it the high street was saturated with the creatures. On earrings, jumpers, cutesy printed dresses. Owls, owls, owls and yet more owls.
So perhaps when I picked up this dress in the Yumi sale (reduced from £45 to £30) I wasn't being hugely creative, but just look at it. The contrast collar, the pleated skirt, the fit... Maybe I did resort to a fashion cliche, but even so, I could have done a lot worse! It's everything I look for in a day-to-day dress, and without a doubt I'll be wearing it until it starts to fall apart at the seams. It looks adorable right now paired with black tights and little lace up boots, however it should also carry nicely into spring. I haven't been particularly innovative or daring, but I have invested in a charming piece that I'll get a lot of wear out of.
I bought it yesterday on a spontaneous day trip to St Ives. We ate at one of my favourite restaurants on the sea front, Onshore, and proceeded to meander the streets, peering through shop windows, pretending we were on holiday again. I still had some vouchers to spend at Yumi, and whilst I was rooting through the rails upstairs I noticed a big photo canvas from the Christmas lookbook! It's always surreal seeing my photos in store - I don't think it's something you could ever get used to. After trying on armfuls of dresses I ended up spending my vouchers on this dress and a black and gold number I'll be sharing with you soon enough.
If you haven't already, take a peek at my shoot with Elisa Berger. The photos came through on Wednesday and I love them!

Yeah I feel like owls have been way overdone too, but I only feel like that when I realise it's an owl pattern if that makes sense? If you just look at it as a pretty dress and don't think about it too much then you almost forget its an owl, and so you can convince yourself you're not being a copy cat! Haha

amazing dress- I think the print is so pretty that you almost ignore that its owl print (if that makes sense)
