DRESS FROM YUMI | BLOUSE FROM ROMWE* | HEADBAND FROM CROWN & GLORY*
HEELS FROM H&M | HALF WIG FROM ANNABELLE'S WIGS*
A few days ago something very exciting arrived in the post - a half wig from Annabelle's Wigs. I'm aware that this may seem strange, seeing as I have plenty of hair naturally, however one of my new years resolutions is to go cold turkey with heat styling, and I still wanted to be able to achieve that big, voluminous blow dried look. After reading about Annabelle's half wigs on Stephanie Dreams, I figured it was worth a try.
Admittedly I was somewhat sceptical. My hair is a tricky one to colour match, however their cherry red colour is a close enough shade. My second concern was texture. Other artificial wigs I've worn have been distinctly plasticy, however the texture of this one is far more realistic, and it falls and brushes like real hair. What's great about these half wigs is that you have your own hair at the front, so if you style tactfully (or wear a big headband!) there are no tell-tale wig seams.
My only complaint would be the weight of the hair piece combined with my already fairly thick hair, but it's entirely worth it for the final effect. The half wigs wave and shine is like my own hair on a really polished day. It was such a treat to have big, glamorous hair that only took five minutes to style and didn't require any heat. A happy hair day indeed!
This is the second dress I bought with my remaining Yumi credit, and about as close to the baroque trend as I dare go! My style is just too frothy and playful for that much black, gold and weighty fabric. I love this as a compromise. It's dark with gold accents, but the fabric is still light and the full skirt and tie back waist add a playful touch. Cue chiffon, sequins and a floral headband and I'm entirely in my element!

ReplyDeleteUntil I read the post I had no idea that wasn't your natural (if volumised) hair - it looks great!
ReplyDeleteWhen i saw the first photo I thought 'Wow! So voluminous, how did she managed?' and then I read it was a wig xD I have nothing against wigs or extensions, I would use them myself. It can't even bee seen ;)

The colour is amazing, and the hair is also amazing! I'd love hair like that! x
ReplyDeleteI salute you for trying to stop using heat on your hair, I could probably stop using curlers and straighteners at a push, but to stop using my hair dryer would be a total nightmare - I HATE going to sleep with wet hair and I nearly always wash it in the evening. Your hair does look stunning in these photos though I would never have known it was a wig!!
