Flash a smile, 2012.

My first look of 2012, and I'm wearing jeans! This is a very rare occurrence for me, so I never spend much money on my denim - these ones cost me £6 from New Look with my student discount. I bought the scarf in last years January sales, and the shirt was an impulse buy from River Island a few months ago.

I'm going to do the sales tomorrow with my sister and mum, so hopefully I'll have some new bits and pieces to share with you - fingers crossed!

Resolutions for 2012.

Here are my resolutions (if that's what you would call them) for the year ahead.

1. Start saving - for when we eventually get married, and for travelling and flat deposits. I'm going to put away disposable chunks of my student loan and pick up my old job over summer ironing and cleaning holiday lets.
2. Start learning French again - in the interest of spending a year in Paris after graduating university. I'm considering teaching English or doing something else that would look good on my CV.
3. Take a trip to Paris with Grant - and perhaps visit Disneyland again to celebrate the anniversary of our engagement.
4. Write another novel manuscript - I need to expand my portfolio, and quite simply the more I write, the better my writing will be. I'm still clinging to the unlikely possibility that I might get published before I'm out of uni.
5. Lose a stone - I've put on half a stone over Christmas (I know, it's appalling) so whilst losing that I might as well shift more of the extra weight I've been carrying. No doubt I'll start regular detoxes once I'm back in Bath.

Happy new year, everyone! I wish you all a prosperous and happy twelve months.

Caramel butternut squash.

This is just a fun little look for that lazy period between Christmas and New Year. In my opinion, the real stars of this look are my gorgeous fleece-lined Doc Martens, they were a birthday gift from my parents and I simply adore them; they're the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned and they go with pretty much everything. I wore them every day in Disneyland Paris (photos coming soon - I swear!).

The dress was a Christmas present, and I'm so happy with it. I've been desperate for a mustard yellow dress all year, and this little number from Miss Selfridge really fits the bill. I love the cinched waist and the draping detail is so feminine and pretty.

The purple flower headband is from Poppy Daisy. I found it on a little soap stall in Covent Garden when we visited London before Christmas. I have a similar design from Poppy Daisy that I found in a gemstone shop in St Ives this summer (see here), but I just love the splash of purple against my red hair.

Fingers of the wind.

Sorry that it's been so long, but things have been wonderfully hectic. In my last post I promised the story of how my lovely boyfriend (now fiancĂ©!) proposed, however I've yet to find a moment in which to write it out properly. Right now ring is being re-sized, so when I get it back I'll post some photos and a proper description.

For now, here is a new look. The headband (Dorothy Perkins), necklace (TopShop) shorts and heels (both New Look) have all appeared before, however the blouse (Miss Selfridge) was a Christmas present from my parents. I love the way it moves, and the little collar is so sweet. Draping fabrics are a real weakness of mine, however I tried to edge this look up with the graphic tights and statement necklace.

One year older, one year wiser.

In the next few days I'm hoping to update with some photos and suchlike from our trip to Disneyland Paris. I'll also be sharing the story of how my lovely boyfriend became my wonderful fiancĂ©! It's going to be a big one, so for now I'll keep things short and sweet...

This look is basically an excuse to wear my new Topshop dress and necklace, which I'll either be wearing on Christmas or new years eve - I've yet to decide!

An early birthday celebration.

It's four days until my birthday, however seeing as I'm going to Disneyland Paris in two days (yes!!) I decided to celebrate early with all my university friends. Seeing as my house is a bit out of the way, some friends offered to host pre-drinks in their student halls. It was lovely, their flat was completely decked out for Christmas and I finished the best part of a bottle of Archers. By the time everyone had filed in I only really knew about half the people there, but it didn't matter. They all wished me happy birthday regardless of whether we'd met before!

We decided to go on a Tuesday, since that's when our favorite club has it's indie night. By the time we actually reached the club at about half eleven our numbers had halved, but we were beyond caring. We spent the night dancing away to the likes of the White Strips and Florence and The Machine.

Tonight my best friend is coming down from Birmingham so we're going to have another night out. We've known each other since we were toddlers so I absolutely can't wait to see her.

Tomorrow is when Christmas really kicks off - My boyfriend and I will be travelling up to London and starting the first leg of our journey to Disneyland!

The wonderful thing about tiggers.

Deck the halls with boughs of holly.

I've been back in Cornwall over the weekend, so naturally I've been shooting looks! This one is fairly basic; the drama is all in the skirt. I found it at the back of a rail in River Island - it would have been cruel to have left it there! I've decided that it's my birthday/Christmas skirt and already have many plans for it.

Everything kicks off in the coming couple of weeks. This Tuesday is my birthday night out, we're having drinks at a friends flat before going to the indie night at my favourite club. I also have a night out planned with my childhood best friend on Saturday, then on Sunday evening my boyfriend and I make the first steps in our journey to Disneyland Paris.

You may also have noticed a slight overhaul in my blog name and design. I felt like it was time for a change, and I'm looking into buying a domain in the new year.
